the greats
- The greatest thing about having a summery Christmas is the number of bumble bees that fly through the Cottage’s open door every day. Kiwi bumble bees are about twice the size of American ones and 100 times as curious.
- The greatest thing about my job is being able to discover music I never bothered with before; I stick my iPod on shuffle and don’t allow myself to change the song until I turn it off at the end of the work day.
- The greatest thing in the grocery store this week: an entire pig’s head in the meat freezer with “James’s” written on its plastic cover in permanent marker.
- The greatest thing about living abroad is learning to deal without. Suddenly finding the holidays right around the corner, I decided to try and make a pie this weekend…without a pie pan, the usual ingredients, a recipe or methods of converting English Standard to the metric system. It turned out, surprisingly, alright.
